Thrissur Pooram is a 36-hour extravaganza of 100 richly decorated elephants, competing percussion orchestras (panchavadyam) and the most celebrated fireworks display in Asia. Two million people attend in person. Held at the Vadakkunnathan Temple, the festival has continued annually for over 200 years.
